Recurring commission builds up: customers you refer in month one keep paying while they stay subscribed. An estimate, not a promise. The program describes its terms as: "50% of every recurring payment in the customer's first year". Tiers, caps and refunds can change the real figure.
About the program
Format is a portfolio website builder for photographers, designers and artists, with gallery focused templates, client proofing, print selling, workflow tools and an online store. It has been the portfolio platform of choice for working photographers for years and is a regular in every portfolio builder comparison.
The affiliate program pays 50 percent of every recurring payment a referred customer makes during their first year, with a 90 day cookie, so a customer on a monthly plan pays you half of each payment for twelve months and an annual customer pays half upfront. Format runs the program in house, applications are reviewed through the affiliates page, and Format's magazine features photographers who share it with their communities. Payouts are monthly by PayPal; the threshold is not published.
Half a year of subscription revenue on a professional tool is a strong commission, and photographers who move their portfolio to Format tend to stay well past the first year.
Format converts from best portfolio website builder roundups, photography business setup guides, client proofing tool comparisons, Squarespace versus Format content and tutorials for art students building a first portfolio. Photographers reviewing their own Format site are the most persuasive affiliates. Format's free trial makes it easy for readers to test the templates before committing.
Terms are as published by the program and can change. Confirm on the program's own page before you rely on them.
