Microsoft Marketplace for Publishers

Microsoft Marketplace, formerly split into Azure Marketplace and AppSource, is where software companies list and sell apps, SaaS and services to Microsoft's business customers. Publishers join through Microsoft's partner program and manage their offers in Partner Center.

Microsoft charges a 3% standard store service fee when customers buy a transactable offer through the marketplace. In practice, if a customer pays $100 for your software licence through Microsoft, you receive $97. Publishers can also apply a 50% discount to the transaction fee on renewals of private offers with existing customers. Listing is free, and offers where customers buy the licence directly from you, rather than through Microsoft, don't carry the fee.

Transacting through the marketplace lets customers buy with their Microsoft billing and, for many large organisations, count purchases against their cloud commitments, which can speed up procurement. Publishers with transactable offers can also access Marketplace Rewards, Microsoft's benefits for marketing, sales and technical support.

SaaS offers can be priced at a flat rate or per user, and publishers can create private offers with custom terms for specific customers.

It suits B2B software companies selling to organisations that run on Azure or Microsoft 365, from security and data tools to productivity and industry apps.
